Following the UK chart success of 2005’s extrovert ‘Supernature’ and its resulting singles, Alison and Will have taken a radically different direction here, creating lush electro/acoustic soundscapes and swirling dreamy atmospheres. A chilled, relaxed album with Alice In Wonderland-esque psychadelic imagery, fans of PJ Harvey’s recent ‘White Chalk’ album will feel right at home as Alison unleashes a couple of hithertofore unexplored octaves in her beautiful lilting range. While fans of their earlier work may feel alienated, ‘Seventh Tree’ is an immensely enjoyable and absorbing album, and by far their best work to date.
